Chantal and Mike of les écureuils (the squirrels) offer you a warm family welcome to their guest house throughout the year. Be it you are passing through on route to Italy, Spain, the Côte d`Azur or taking time out to explore Haut Provence we are at your service.
Les écureuils is situated in a quiet part of Valréas but within easy walk of the Town centre
so sleeping late or lazing by the pool is no problem. It is ideal to use a base, to visit such sites as Avignon, the Ardech Gorge, Romanistic towns such as Nyons, Orange and Vaison La-Romaine, or for cyclist the Mont Ventoux.
As said previously we have private secure parking and a walled secluded garden. Meals are a family affair with us so one or both of us will join you at the table.
Our town offers a rich history and only became part of France in the late 18th century. Visit in June/July see magnificent lavender fields. The 23rd of June each year is “la Nuit du Petit St Jean” (The night of the Little St John), a unique festival commencing at the fall of night, with a cortège of more than 300 persons in medieval costumes.
The first weekend in August brings the annual Lavender Festival, with Floats, bands, and entertainment from throughout Europe.
The end of November till the end of February offers a chance (by request) to sample the delights of Black Truffles.
As an Anglo French couple ( Chantal a native Valréassienne) we are in a good position to offer help and guidance for those little hiccups that sometimes arise in a holiday or to just point you in the direction of some of the local tradesmen or producers.
